The Prism Clubhouse

Jingdezhen, the historic porcelain capital of China, has witnessed over a thousand years of ceramic craftsmanship. This project is a community center that integrates multifunctional spaces such as a book bar, parent-child classrooms, and reading areas, aimed at fostering communication among neighborhood families. It is suitable for community members of all ages, combining entertainment, health, and parent-child activities into one.

II. Design Challenges

The challenge of the design lies in integrating modern prismatic elements with the traditional ceramics of Jingdezhen. Material selection must consider both aesthetics and durability, while blending beauty with practicality to meet the needs of a multifunctional space.

III. Innovation Highlights

A. Prismatic Refraction Inspiration: Drawing inspiration from the ever-changing glazes of Jingdezhen ceramics, prismatic designs are used to capture light and shadow variations, merging the ancient city’s craftsmanship with modern architectural language. This presents the luster of the porcelain capital with the artistry of modern spaces, bridging tradition and modernity.

B. Cross-Generational Interaction: Emphasizing family emotional connections, it offers parent-child shared reading and activity spaces, as well as a safe parent-child swimming pool, encouraging intergenerational interaction and enhancing family harmony.

C. Innovation with Natural Light Gaps: The glass ceiling above the constant temperature swimming pool uses geometric innovation to create natural light gaps, bringing unique light and shadow art, optimizing light distribution, and enhancing sensory experiences.
