Drip Garage

This self-service car wash garage is renovated from an old dormitory. After the layout is restructured and rearranged, a new model of car wash experience is infused, encompassing elements that allow for family gatherings, networking of car owners, media displays and office work, thus revolutionizing stereotypical and conventional impressions of what a self-service car wash station should be like. Through reforming spaces, linking lives and emotions, and facilitating social interactions, a more refined, cozy car wash experience can be provided.

The original structure has lots of unnecessary partitions that would get in the way of the installation of hardware essential to a car wash station, such as lanes that can accommodate different vehicles’ turning radii, as well as the drainage system. After reorganizing the space, the designer divided the indoor area into a car wash section, a socializing section with a bar, and a photo shoot and display section. The cement floor is re-engineered and elevated so that adequate sloping is put in place, which allows for the draining of water; an anti-slip texture is also applied by hand. Furthermore, an air conditioning system is installed to avoid too much humidity and make the overall environment more comfortable.

The designer utilizes vibrant colors with a variety of materials such as veneers, metal pieces, corrugated sheets, classic Lamborghini wallpapers, and cargo container doors. With an island bar counter and restrooms, the socializing section allows for dining, recreation, and other social activities. As a result, this space no longer serves the sole function of car wash, but can also become a gathering spot for families and friends.

In addition, to fulfill the needs of photoshoots and displays, the design allows for adjustments in lighting as well as how the partitions and furniture are arranged, thus giving the space maximum flexibility. Moreover, depending on future needs, the cement plates located in the back of the car wash bay can also be used to display advertisements.
