Yangliuqing Town in Tianjin is known as the "Jiangnan of the Northern China", a famous historical town and the hometown of New Year pictures. It boasts a profound heritage of canal culture and folk customs. The project is located to the north of a high-end community and re-creates an ideal residence in a natural and serene setting by combining Chinese classical gardens with traditional dwellings.
The main entrance of the project adopts a symmetrical facade language, combined with the integrated design of the landscape walls on both sides and the urban green belt, creating a street frontage of 60 meters wide and 6 meters high. The setting of the hotel-style drop-off area, along with the elaborately crafted water features and the corresponding landscape walls, not only guides the flow lines, but seamlessly connects the bustling outside with the serene inside, thus reshaping the community's urban facade image.
The community center innovatively introduces a sunken courtyard design to create a three-dimensional social space. The interior integrates various social spaces such as a gym, billiard room, yoga studio, card room and a book bar. The design emphasizes the connection between the sunken courtyard and each spaces, achieving seamless transitions between movement, meetings and relaxation within the natural scenery, endowing community life with deeper vitality and ease.
The design delves deeply into the thousand-year-old cultural heritage of Yangliuqing and the essence of landscaping in Jiangnan gardens, achieving an integration of the interior and exterior through "borrowing" and "extension" scenery. The project is underpinned by the aesthetic principles of Song Dynasty gardens, drawing inspiration from Wen Zhengming's painting - "Inquiring the Way to the Peach Blossom Spring". With a three-dimensional layout of "one axis connecting, five sequences unfolding, and six gardens coexisting", it unfolds an immersive journey of "exploring the garden - wandering the valley - viewing the waterfall - approaching the marsh - residing", presenting a distinctive homecoming ritual and landscape experience.
