Suzhou Lang Shi: Floating Community of Jiangnan

Rooted in Suzhou's urban gene of "coexistence of tradition and modernity", this project takes "the firmness of stone and the agility of water" as its spiritual core, achieving an in-depth dialogue between regional culture and modern aesthetics in landscape creation. The design not only inherits the elegant and timeless charm of Jiangnan water towns but also responds to the dynamic rhythm of an international metropolis. It awakens regional memories through landscape language and builds a habitat for spiritual belonging with spatial structure.

"Water" is the core thread running through the design. The central water system meanders from the heart of the site, connecting functional areas such as the stilt floor, viewing terrace, and lawn in a flowing manner, endowing the space with a coherent and vivid narrative sense. Drawing inspiration from the water town culture of "living by the water", the design arranges verandas, curtain pavilions, water-side platforms, and leisure recliners around the core water surface, constructing a multi-dimensional waterfront scene layer by layer. This makes the residential area seem to float on the blue waves, fully demonstrating a sense of relaxed breathing. The bottom of the pool is paved with a special light blue material, simulating the clarity and transparency of an outdoor swimming pool, which not only enhances the vacation atmosphere of the water body but also improves the participatory nature of the landscape.

In addition, the design deeply embeds local cultural symbols, integrating the simple artistic conception and implicit aesthetics of Jiangnan water towns into the details. It outlines a narrative space through a formalized landscape language, allowing traditional charm to flow naturally in modern scenes and creating a high-quality human settlement landscape that combines cultural depth and contemporary vitality.
