Infinitude

Located in the city of Jiangsu, a coastal province that embraces mountains and ocean, urbans and harbors, this design project presents a concept inspired by the environment. Integrating the atmosphere of the site, where tradition, nature and elegance all merged as one, the interior depicts the sublime, the force of cliff and pine, repainting gorge and valley’s tranquil serenity. Presented through a modern design technique, the elegant lightness of the construction within the environment is set as the main theme. Thus, the space created becomes a realm where people search for beauty inside one’s mind.
To connect the dots between the environment and the architecture’s aesthetics, this project’s librarial landscape is created to generate conversations between space and nature. Awakening users’ senses and relationship to the surroundings, this interior design is meant to liberate one from urbanism, to feel the calmness and open mindedness.
Once entering the space, one can immediately notice the 15 meters long red travertine back wall. The elegance of the brick red spreads its color horizontally. The bulkiness and veins of sedimentary rock perfectly set off the minimalist hallway. While decorating and forming a vivid energy, it also extends the spatial perception. The red color gradient as if maples in autumn, naturally encapsulates a powerful and classical atmosphere, the thousands of history and civilization.
The metallic materials and lighting design on the side of the hallway creates a folded line between areas, dividing the indoor and the outdoor through the intangible. Applying squarish elements of different sizes and shapes, the arrangement in orders with rhythm infuses an ingenious fun to the space. Delineating textures of the surface and the three-dimensional, different materials and color palettes offer rich layers to the interior design. The construction model area is installed with artistic lighting design, offering a tranquil scenery of misty, rainy valleys. While highlighting the space, it also offers a sense of elegance and ingenuity. Shimmering with richness in colors, light and shadow flow in between corners. The brightness and neatness establish a natural aesthetic.
