CENTRAL THRONE is situated in the Chengnan district of Chancheng, the historic core of Foshan—a mature urban center that harmoniously blends metropolitan convenience with authentic local vitality. Located just 2.5 kilometers from the Chancheng District Government, the site benefits from excellent road connectivity and dual metro lines, ensuring seamless accessibility. Daily amenities are abundant, and a government-commissioned primary school—Port Road Elementary—is planned immediately to the southeast, placing education literally at residents’ doorstep.
Rooted in the rich Lingnan cultural heritage of Chancheng, the project articulates a central design philosophy: “Urban Serenity · A Vertical Lingnan Courtyard.” It reinterprets traditional Lingnan spatial sensibilities through a contemporary lens, integrating Eastern philosophical ideals with modern living paradigms to craft a high-end residential experience enriched by garden-like tranquility.
The masterplan strategically divides the site into two distinct parcels—East and West—each assigned a differentiated programmatic identity while maintaining functional synergy. The East Parcel embodies “Skyline Urban Living,” featuring four high-rise towers arranged in an axially symmetrical, courtyard-style configuration. This layout preserves the integrity of the central landscape and maximizes inter-building spacing for optimal daylight and privacy. In contrast, the West Parcel offers “Low-Density Garden Living,” comprising three low-rise, highly private boutique residences whose typology approaches villa-grade quality.
Circulation is meticulously organized around a strict pedestrian-vehicle separation principle, enhancing both safety and the sense of ceremonial arrival. An approximately 80-meter-long art-infused urban façade leads to a semi-open, hotel-inspired drop-off zone, orchestrating a graceful transition from the bustling city to a serene, resort-like enclave.
A key innovation lies in the project’s “Super-Podium” strategy—a spatial revolution for compact urban sites. By lifting communal amenities vertically into the double-height (first and second floor) voids beneath the central towers, the design creates a “floating pool” and “vertical living room.” This verticalization of traditionally ground-level functions injects sophisticated yet warm Lingnan lifestyle scenes into limited footprint conditions.
The elevated communal zones draw inspiration from Foshan’s traditional “street-alley–courtyard” urban fabric, where architecture, alleys, skywells, and courtyards intertwine organically. Echoing local customs such as “living with water” and “evening gatherings on rooftops,” these spaces foster revived neighborly bonds within a modern residential context.
