Situated against the picturesque backdrop of Vancouver, Mink’s design reflects a harmonious fusion of luxurious aesthetics and natural charm. From the neutral putty tones of Farrow & Ball’s Setting Plaster to the dusty rose and olive hues underfoot, every element is curated to evoke a quiet sense of curiosity at every turn.
The interior design seamlessly integrates with the architecture, blurring the line between fantasy and reality while offering a serene oasis for clients to indulge in luxury lash treatments. Texture, depth, and a masterful use of light and shadow enhance the putty pink monochromatic palette that envelops the space. This is expressed most strikingly in the retail area, where oversized curved panels clad the walls from floor to ceiling. Organically shaped brass shelving intersects these panels, creating a tactile backdrop for an ethereal yet highly functional retail experience.
At the centre, the reception desk emerges as a sculptural focal point—an organic form reminiscent of molten gold cascading onto the floor. Brought to life through a layered process that merged cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship, the desk functions as both art and utility, guiding the flow of movement through the right quadrant of the studio with subtle fluidity.
The pièce de résistance is the custom mesh ceiling. Inspired by the fluid movement of rippling water and the unfolding layers of a blooming flower, delicate sheets of metal mesh radiate outward from a central point. While visually striking from below, the true beauty of the installation is revealed when viewed from the horizontal vantage of the treatment beds—where its layered intricacies and gentle illumination from suspended pendants create a mesmerizing canopy above.
Beyond its aesthetic value, what truly sets this project apart is the feeling it evokes. Stepping inside, one is swept away by a sense of wonder and calm anticipation. Mink embodies the power of design innovation—proving that with imagination and craft, architecture and experience can merge into something truly transformative.
