MIND Landscape, rooted in the Daoist principle of “following nature,” re-creates the forest wisdom of Shu along the cultural axis of the Jinjiang River. Drawing on the millennia-old spirit of the Du Fu Thatched Cottage and the Wuhou Shrine, it weaves intangible heritage—Shu embroidery, tea artistry, and more—into a living tapestry where three thousand years of Tianfu elegance coexist with modern prosperity.
The design unfolds as a dual-realm narrative inspired by the philosophy of “engaging and retreating from the world.” The forecourt borrows Li Bai’s line “my hand could pluck the stars,” translating it into a three-dimensional mountainscape: waterfalls and streams cascade through the architecture, forming a social theater to be admired and explored—an urban ritual of contemporary “sage within, ruler without.” The rear garden revives the classical sequence of “walking, viewing, dwelling, and roaming.” Winding paths thread through a secluded grove where plants and stones are set in studied disarray, guiding quiet contemplation. Whether gazing upward or resting below, the body and mind re-enter dialogue with nature, finding a private refuge of poetic retreat amid clamor.
Rejecting superficial iconography, the project takes real mountains and living water as its teachers. Su Shi’s ease and Du Fu’s tenderness travel across time, safeguarding the individual’s innate “innocence” among winding alleys and curling tea smoke, ensuring that lakes, light, and stones never fade beneath the tides of history.
