Aromatic Residence

Located in Zhubei, this project was designed with the theme of “the home of a barista.” The concept extends into a narrative-driven residential imagination. The father, a barista who travels the world and collects coffee beans, represents craftsmanship and expertise; the mother enjoys baking and pastries, symbolizing warmth and creativity; while the child dreams of becoming an astronaut, embodying curiosity and exploration.
The designer translated these family traits into spatial language: the entrance begins with a grille design that extends into a coffee display wall, making the father’s profession a spiritual symbol of the home. The dining table and kitchen bar respond to the mother’s love of baking, creating the family’s central hub of interaction. In the child’s bedroom, galaxy-themed wallpaper and a moon-shaped lamp reflect the child’s aspirations of space and exploration.
The project’s most distinctive highlight lies in its storytelling narrative. At the foyer, grilles cleverly conceal a foldable clothes rack, preventing clutter while allowing light and shadow to filter through. Entering the social area, the coffee display wall beside the living room becomes the core, showcasing beans, brewing pots, and distillation equipment as prized collections that highlight the father’s identity. This integration of profession and domestic life gives visitors a strong sense of exclusivity and pride.
Between the dining area and kitchen bar sits a long table that serves both as a daily dining surface and as a platform for gatherings with friends. Display cabinets feature built-in lighting to accentuate utensils and family photos, enriching the dining experience with warmth. The child’s room is another imaginative corner, filled with starry wallpapers and a glowing moon lamp, a dreamlike setting for peaceful sleep. The study, paired with a daybed, reflects the family’s love for travel and photography, with vintage cameras displayed on shelves as witnesses to memory and aspiration.
