This exceptional living space is designed to accommodate three generations. Despite being home to a large number of residents, the designers have masterfully created an environment that meets the unique needs of each family member while optimizing limited space. One of the key challenges in this design was the beam problem. However, the designers have skillfully addressed this challenge by implementing pattern reorganization and beam sectioning techniques, which not only eliminated the sense of oppression caused by the beams but also extended the activity space and enhanced the space efficiency. Now, the entire family can enjoy a comfortable and beautiful living experience without feeling cramped or restricted.
Upon entering the room, one can immediately notice the intentional design choices made by the designer. The unobstructed space between the dusty area and the living room allows natural light to flow into the room, creating a bright and airy feel. The designer's attention to detail is further demonstrated in the use of segmented beam design to address the challenge of large beam structures in an old house. By wrapping the beams in the dusty area with wood veneer to divide them and reduce their length, the designer managed to adjust the visual weight of the beams in the space. The beam across the TV wall was also given special attention to avoid a top-heavy visual impression. A folding plate was created at the junction of the two to ensure balance and stability. To add more depth and weight to the picture, the designer added a long shelf space under the TV wall, incorporating art paint and wood. The depth of the space created by the beams at the entrance of the master bedroom was also utilized to create a buffer space rich in depth of field of view. This allows for a gradual progression of the flow of the room and adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of the space.
