THE WORLD CITY

This project is a design case related to the interior soft furnishing of the sample room of Jinhui World City in Wuhan, China. The designer aims at infusing the elegance and exquisiteness of Italian soft furnishings as a part of the design, building an urban living experience hall with art, modern and unique taste. As a typical element of modern Italian furnishings, the shape and space design of the minimalist furniture looks reserved, yet it puts more emphasis on the demanding criteria for color, material texture and craftsmanship. The theme of soft furnishings has been well-thought and gets inspired from Bottega Veneta, a famous luxury brand conceived in the highest levels of living attitude and art. Stepping in, you will see the leather braiding art, the most typical icon of Bottega Veneta, extracted and used by the designer, and immensely used on the soft furnishings placed in living-dining room combo, bedroom and other spaces. Some bold color techniques including contrast color patches are extended from such theme. This technique fills the entire space with an abundance of layers to the senior ash as the main color palette, which is visually perceived as a sort of high-class modern art. You are supposed to marvel at the designer's innovation and bold trial as reflected in this design idea. What calls for special attention is that this design technique for soft furnishings, if not properly done, may cause the space to be perceived disintegrated and heavy. As an alternative solution, plain white tulle curtains and ceiling are drawn into the space. First, plain white makes the color sense of the whole space active, so it is not dull and dreary. Second, a wide area of tulle curtains shape a well-lit atmosphere, and a large area of blocky curtains and ceiling makes a transition to the braided furnishings, so the perceived disintegration fades off. In this case, a special technique is employed to infuse the braiding art, the most typical icon of Bottega Veneta, as a part of the space, to create the desired dwelling perfectly revealing the Italian home art.
