Poly TanGim

This project is an interior design case related to an upscale private club in Foshan, Guangdong, China. Adhering to the design concept of “The Dream in Visiting the Garden”, the designer starts from the fusion of continued innovation and traditional memory, indexes from local humanities and landscape culture, and infuses local culture icons such as lion dance, martial arts and carving, in order to build a sunken two-storey Chinese garden upscale club serving multiple purposes. The most distinguished figures have access to higher quality, healthy and unaffected hotel resort-like recluse luxury life. In this case, the paramount thing is to craft a series of distinctive culture artworks from the geographic pattern in the vicinity of the project area, the Pearl River waters and local culture icons such as lion dance and martial arts, inspired by the techniques of bronze carving, wood carving as the famous intangible cultural heritage. The water and stones in Lingnan gardens, and the "simplicity" and "luxury" in Chinese contexts, are transformed to art installations, paintings and accessories in art forms. The shape and body fused into the space sketch a special recluse luxury art atmosphere of the indoor space, which reveals the aesthetic demonstration and deep-going cultural heritage underlying “Poly TanGim”, known as Poly’s new upscale human settlement product. What the designer aspires to create is not just a simply high-grade club space, but to convey the particular regional characteristics and spiritual content of the local community. Art expressions are expected to reveal the unique cultural heritage and spiritual pursuit of Foshan, to the extent that people would be deeply impressed by the sincerity and appeal of this land. In a sense, this case is a well-crafted “artwork” that presents the regional characteristics and exhibits the brilliant achievements of human wisdom and creativity.
