Mancave

A “man cave” is a space that is exclusively dedicated to men. The owner of this space is a passionate enthusiast of heavy motorcycles and racing cars, and has collected a large number of them. To display and take care of his collection, the owner decided to build his own house on his own property, and use the first floor as a private "man cave". This area will be utilized to showcase his vehicles, perform maintenance on them, and host entertainment events.
This particular case deviates from the typical process of planning for self-built projects on land. During the initial planning stage, the designer collaborated closely with the architect to cater to the homeowner's specific needs and seamlessly integrate both the architectural and interior design aspects. This approach allowed for full integration of functional requirements, electrical and mechanical equipment, and other necessary elements, thereby eliminating the need for future changes to the spatial layout or relocation of plumbing and electrical wiring.
The design of the space is centered around the owner's personal preferences, necessities, and aspirations. The ultimate objective is to establish an exclusive and cozy environment that fulfills the owner's wishes. To accomplish this, the entrance has been divided into two sections, one for residents and the other for visitors, to ensure that noise does not disturb the family's private zone during social events. The owner's desired rough industrial style and Japanese raw concrete texture have been integrated into the construction and space, resulting in a chic yet robust spatial expression.
On the first floor, four distinct areas cater to the owner's needs for vehicle collection, display, parking, maintenance, and entertainment. The garage has an electric car charging system and automatic ventilation to keep the owner's vehicles in top condition. The heavy motorcycle maintenance garage is meant for the owner's desire to modify heavy motorcycles. The car and heavy motorcycle collection and display area have a vintage-inspired theme, creating a personalized atmosphere. Lastly, the entertainment space is ideal for the owner and their friends and family to indulge in fine wine and watch car racing.
