BRIGHT MOON OVER THE SEA

Facing Shandong province across the sea, Dalian is located at the southern end of Liaodong Peninsula at the junction of the Yellow Sea and the Bo Sea. It is an important coastal trade city in China, known as the “romantic city”.
Dalian is a romantic costal city with magical ocean. With the theme of “Heart of the Sea”, we rebuilt a life hall, a new aesthetic landmark in the rich texture of Dalian. It is expected to be a super IP that represents the future Bohai Bay. Its poetic quality opens the immersive experience of ocean with precious whales.
We took the ocean aesthetics as the background color to abstract the whale’s shape and texture which are transformed into the gene and the core of the hall. In this way, a multidimensional vitality field is constructed. We created a field where art curation, interactive experience and natural education are integrated. With the supernatural power and gentleness of ocean, the inner yearning and infinite imagination will be awakened.

The eye catching part of the marine elements is the inner architectural surface, which resembles a whale's throat groove as well as flowing water, showing the dynamic of the sea, bringing a sense of depth, visuality and modernity.
Jellyfish swims in the water and refracts the illusive light with shadow. The feeling of weightlessness in the water makes the diver feel like he is in space, mysterious and dreamy, forming a strong visual impact.
Different layers of blue color in the space and the intertwined combination of transparency and entity make people feel the mystery of dark blue while walking in the hall. The connection between people and space is built through five senses. Therefore, we created an atmosphere through the changes of the perception when entering the hall, which makes people here feel the unique ocean charm of Dalian.
