LANTANA LED United States

1 Congratulations on winning in the TITAN Property Awards! Tell us more about your company, studio, or yourself.

At LANTANA LED, we design and manufacture next-generation lighting built for high-performance, mission-critical environments. Our roots are in industrialized construction, which taught us to prioritize durability, efficiency, and repeatability without sacrificing design. Today, our focus is on creating sustainable, low-voltage lighting systems that reduce energy consumption, simplify operations, and improve overall safety. We serve sectors that cannot afford failure: data centers, manufacturing, logistics, and large-scale commercial properties. We believe lighting should be both a technical asset and a sustainability engine.

2 Could you walk us through the concept and unique features of your award-winning project?

We are proud that two of our fixtures won: the Illucent Linear Remote and the Illucent Troffer. The Illucent Troffer was created to solve a real need: a lighting fixture that could withstand elevated ambient temperatures often found in mission-critical environments while also fitting multiple structural ceiling grids and being sustainable. The design uses a distributed low-voltage power system, recyclable aluminum housings, high-efficiency LED boards, and thermal characteristics that reduce strain on sensitive electronics. We engineered every component to deliver long operating life, ultra-uniform illumination, and safe, centralized driver access, making it easier for operators to maintain, replace, and scale lighting in demanding facilities. The Illucent Linear Remote is the ultimate lighting solution for data centers and commercial settings, combining 164.7 lumens per watt, UL certification for elevated temperatures, and the advantages of distributed low-voltage technology. Its centralized remote driver unit ensures minimal heat emissions, while direct and indirect lighting provides optimal illumination for server racks, cable trays, and workspaces. Beyond data centers, this versatile fixture also caters to a wide range of commercial and industrial applications — including retail, hospitality, education, and government facilities — where high performance, sustainability, and reliability are essential. The fixture proudly achieved Declare Label status, ensuring product component transparency and documentation.

3 What do you believe makes this project stand out in the property industry?

What sets these fixtures apart is their combination of mission-critical resilience and true sustainability. Many fixtures excel in one category or the other. The Illucent Linear and Illucent Troffer do both. The lights are UL-listed for elevated ambient temperatures, engineered for decades of runtime, and built with materials and technologies that significantly reduce lifecycle environmental impact. In an industry where efficiency gains are typically incremental, our Illucent fixtures provide a change of pace by delivering meaningful energy savings, longer service intervals, and safer maintenance for high-value facilities.

4 What's the first thought that crossed your mind when you found out you had won in the award?

Our first thought was immense gratitude for our team, our customers, and the partners who helped shape these products. This award reinforced that the hard work invested in designing lighting purpose-built for sustainability and mission-critical environments truly resonated. It was also validating to see that the industry recognizes the importance of lighting as a lever for meaningful energy and operational improvements.

5 What's the inspiration or story behind your winning entry? Was there a meaningful moment during its creation that you would like to share?

The inspiration came directly from listening to data center operators and engineers who told us the same thing: they needed lighting that could survive higher heat, reduce energy waste, and support future-ready infrastructure. A key moment for us was during prototyping when we tested the fixtures under challenging ambient temperatures and saw how efficiently they dissipated heat while maintaining flawless output. It confirmed we were on the right track and pushed us to refine the design even further.

6 What was the most surprising or unexpected element of your entry's journey from concept to completion?

What surprised us most was how many adjacent problems the Illucent lights ended up solving. We began by focusing on thermal robustness and energy efficiency, but during development, we discovered the design also improved safety, simplified maintenance workflows, and reduced the load on cooling systems. That ripple effect — one innovation unlocking several operational benefits — was an unexpected and rewarding outcome.

7 Designing properties often requires balancing art and science. How do you harmonize aesthetics with functionality in your work?

A fixture should look clean and modern, but above all else, it must perform functionally: distributing light evenly, minimizing glare, and integrating seamlessly into the surrounding environment. The Illucent Troffer’s low-profile geometry and soft, uniform output are examples of form following function. We design with intention: everything you see is purposeful, and everything you don’t see is engineered for longevity, safety, and efficiency.

8 What's the one challenge from this entry that you're most proud of overcoming?

Designing fixtures that can operate safely in elevated ambient temperatures without sacrificing efficiency was a major challenge. Many LEDs degrade quickly in high heat. Achieving a UL certification for elevated ambient operation while delivering long lifetime ratings and consistent optical performance required extensive engineering, testing, and iteration. Overcoming that challenge means operators now have a reliable, sustainable option for tough environments.

9 How do you think this recognition will impact your career or future projects?

This recognition validates our approach to lighting innovation and reinforces our commitment to pushing boundaries in sustainability and mission-critical design. It encourages us to continue investing in R&D and exploring new ways to reduce energy consumption across the built environment. We expect it will also inspire deeper collaboration with architects, engineers, and operators who are seeking credible, next-generation lighting solutions.

10 How do you think your entry contributes to the future of property design and development?

The Illucent Troffer and Illucent Linear demonstrate that sustainability, efficiency, and resilience can be integrated into a single solution without compromise. As buildings become more electrified, automated, and energy-conscious, lighting systems will play a central role in reducing overall consumption and supporting flexible, modular infrastructure. These fixtures help set a higher standard: one where lighting is an active contributor to PUE improvements, carbon reduction goals, and operational reliability — not just an accessory.

11 Sustainability is an important topic in today’s world. How do you integrate eco-conscious practices into your projects?

Sustainability guides every step of our process. We design for energy efficiency, use recyclable materials, minimize power losses by using distributed low-voltage architectures, and optimize thermal performance to extend product lifetimes. We also prioritize modularity and ease of maintenance, which reduce waste over time. Additionally, we support responsible recycling programs for end-of-life fixtures, helping customers make environmentally responsible choices throughout the product lifecycle.

12 Are there any upcoming projects or ideas that you’re particularly excited about pursuing?

We’re excited about expanding our low-voltage lighting ecosystem and introducing fixtures tailored for emerging high-density environments, including AI data halls, pre-fab hot aisle containments, and advanced industrial applications. We’re also exploring new materials and manufacturing approaches that further reduce embodied carbon. Collaboration with operators remains at the core of our innovation process, and we have several joint development efforts underway that will push the boundaries of efficiency and sustainability even further.

13 If you could give one piece of advice to aspiring designers or developers entering the field today, what would it be?

Listen first. The best innovations come from understanding real-world challenges and designing with purpose. Don’t chase trends; chase problems worth solving. If you build with intention, prioritize sustainability, and stay curious about how your work impacts people and the planet, your designs will stand the test of time.
