SCE • IMPERIAL TERRACE Demonstration Area, Anxi

The project is the landscape design for the demonstration area of a residential development. It is located in Anxi County, which is a part of Quanzhou — a coastal city that gained the title "Culture City of East Asia". Anxi is known for beautiful mountains, streams and tea. It's the birthplace of Tieguanyin tea and top tea-producing county in China.
At the early mater planning stage, the designers carried out thorough analysis and decided to define the project with New-Asian Style, hoping to make new innovations based on traditions. After studying the local historical and cultural context, the team chose "tea" and "stream" as sources of inspiration, and took "teahill-stream-dwelling" as the design theme, intending to interpret the design from two perspectives: spirit of tea ceremony and living experiences. By taking "tea, cloud, forest, light and water" as major design elements, the designers created five scenes via landscape languages.
Through organization of circulation routes, the project integrates local culture into landscape space. The elaborate design languages interpret a living mode that combines mobility, sightseeing, strolling and dwelling experiences. Though with a relatively limited spatial scale, this demonstration area well showcases the spatial mode of the future opening residential community. It's aimed to strengthen interaction between people, people and nature, and enhance the health value of the community and artistic taste in life.
