This thoughtfully designed 50-square-meter micro-residence serves as a tranquil retreat, offering both residents and visitors a place where body and mind can unwind. It provides a serene escape from the fast-paced demands of urban life. Within this compact space, every element is meticulously curated to seamlessly blend aesthetics with functionality, resulting in a harmonious and efficient living layout. The design features a soothing palette of off-white mineral paint, complemented by natural rattan and rich dark wood panels, effectively embodying the serene principles of Japanese wabi-sabi style. As one enters this micro-residence, one will be enveloped by an atmosphere of calmness and simplicity, inviting one to relax and rejuvenate.
As one steps into the foyer, the first impression is undeniably captivating, with an elegantly curved storage room that artfully delineates the entrance from the kitchen. This thoughtful design not only addresses feng shui considerations but also maximizes coat storage within the confines of a compact layout. Furthermore, the smooth curves of the storage room serve to soften the rigid spatial boundaries of the original space, thereby creating a harmonious flow that invites exploration.
Transitioning seamlessly from the foyer, one enters the open-plan living area, where the kitchen, dining area, and living room are thoughtfully integrated for both functionality and aesthetics. At the heart of this space is a striking unit that artfully combines an island bar counter with a sideboard, elegantly replacing the traditional dining table. The burnished stone countertop not only enhances the visual appeal but also adds a tactile richness, while the cleverly designed rattan-woven wooden doors discreetly conceal the audio-visual equipment, striking a perfect balance between style and the practical need for heat dissipation.
This project has thoughtfully preserved a substantial portion of the original structure during the renovation process. For instance, we retained the beautiful flooring, the high-quality kitchen appliances, and the elegant countertops, ensuring that the charm of the space is maintained. Furthermore, we enhanced the overall aesthetic appeal by refurbishing the cabinet doors, which not only invigorates the design but also minimizes unnecessary waste of valuable resources.
