Situated on Changxing Island in the Chongming District of Shanghai, the Shanghai Changxing Song Hotel features a design inspired from the aesthetics of the Song Dynasty. This approach seeks to revive the aesthetic essence from the height of ancient Chinese cultural development. The Song Dynasty represents a high peak in ancient Chinese literature, philosophy, and aesthetics, with its aesthetic principles reflecting the core spirit and cultural orientation of traditional Chinese heritage, making it representative and exemplary.
Key themes of Song Dynasty aesthetic culture include simplicity, subtlety, elegance, nature, Zen, sophistication, literati character, and a sense of order, all of which are evident in the design of this hotel. The lobby is adorned in shades of gray and brown, with minimalist furnishings that create an elegant and dignified atmosphere. At the center, an artistic landscape stone, inspired by Liu Songnian's “Tang Five Bachelor's Picture” from the Southern Song Dynasty, serves as the focal point of the space.
