Bath In Light

In the rainy city of Tamsui, there is a residence that defies the common perception of the area as gloomy and damp. The home boasts excellent natural lighting, maintaining a bright and warm ambiance even on overcast days.
The homeowner primarily works from home and shares the space with three cats, necessitating a design that balances work and daily life while allowing the cats to move freely and comfortably. To achieve this, the design team removed the original two-bedroom layout and replaced it with glass partitions, creating an open-plan living area. This not only enhances the sense of spaciousness but also provides the study with a defined yet visually connected space.
The standout feature of this project lies in its strategic use of moru glass and an open plan to enhance spaciousness while maintaining an unobstructed visual. To address feng shui considerations, the design team added a built-in shoe cabinet at the entryway and incorporated moru glass to create a semi-transparent effect. This choice mitigates feng shui taboos while allowing natural light to flow through without compromising the resident’s privacy.
In addition, special accommodations were made for the cats’ needs. A dedicated litter box area was designed, and the entryway flooring was covered with hexagonal ceramic tiles to facilitate easy cleaning. This also prevents damage to the wooden flooring from potential spills caused by the cats knocking over their water bowls.
Another key design highlight is the hidden sliding door in the kitchen. The design team seamlessly integrated the sliding door between the living room TV cabinet and the adjacent wall. When not in use, the door slides neatly into the appliance cabinet, maintaining a clean and streamlined aesthetic while preserving circulation.
