Ezhou Cultural Center

Aiming to present cultural and artistic works and open up a regional and landmark destination for spiritual life, the project is a cultural center built specifically for Ezhou City, Wuhan, containing a 1,200-seat first-class theater, a 240-seat multifunctional hall, an art gallery, and an underground garage.
The project is inspired by the local natural landscape and humanities. Ezhou has the landscape of peaks and mountains, and is known as the city of hundreds of lakes and the land of fish and rice due to its many lakes. Therefore, the team chose the design concept of "mountain" and "water", incorporated the spirit of "mountain" and the transformation of "water" to convey humanity, openness, inclusiveness, culture and art in a flowing and transparent space.
The simple color scheme of wood and white is adopted for the main space, giving it an elegant and simple charm. At the same time, to fit the design concept, the building facade is made of two materials, one hollow and one solid, which seem to be opposing and yet complementing each other. The theater and the art gallery are typical examples of this connotation.
The glass curtain wall facade of the theater provides the lighting and ventilation required by the audience's anteroom and backstage, presenting a bright and atmospheric quality and fully satisfying the performance needs. The exterior facade of the art gallery is made of aluminum curtain wall, and the inner courtyard is equipped with a "flower basket" shaped glass curtain wall combined with the audience ramp of the audience to illuminate the interior with soft natural light and creates a scattered natural atmosphere. With the staggered combination of spaces, it bridges the distance between millions of Ezhou people and the art world they yearn for and enables them to have a wonderful experience of interaction with nature.
