The Garden Villa

The Garden Villa is a private residence in an upscale suburban neighbourhood to the north-west of the city of Port of Spain, on the island of Trinidad, in the Caribbean. Located in a quiet residential area, but conveniently close to an array of community amenities such as schools, shopping centres, groceries, churches etc, and just eight kilometres from the capital city.
Clients are young professionals, constructing their first home. I joined the project in its construction phase where I had the opportunity to work with them to plan and design the interior spatial layout. They agreed on a transitional design scope that merged the relatively traditional architecture with a contemporary interior for modern day living. Cool, clean, efficient were our watchwords with a few wow factor moments included.
We really enjoyed working with the clients and especially working with the space. The house begins to tell a story as you enter, and we loved that contemporary and traditional elements that were matched to bring a real warmth and homey feeling to such a grand space. We are really especially proud of all the details, from the stonework, to the hardwood finished staircase, to the colour palette, to the lighting choices. This project was a true joy.
