Country / Region
The project is positioned to be a food-themed street with the local cultural characteristics, which is awash with novelty, fun and surprises, attracts people to go shopping and stay here, and also evokes their resonance. In the current context, commerce tends to be homogeneous, but the new generation of young consumer groups is picky about shopping environment. In light of this fact, the design team is intended to create a food-themed street characterized by the Lingnan regional cultural background, taking consumers to a unique journey of traveling from city to nature, tradition to future. The themed cultural street helps form a commercial space offering differentiated experiences.
The whole design draws on the local representative urban architectural frame (Cantonese Architecture), and rearranges it in the space. The Cantonese buildings featuring rich layers and the tortuous and gentle water town with Lingnan regional characteristics are interpreted and merged into the novel space full of unknown taste surprises.
Based on the consideration of commercial value, varying landscapes are orderly organized along the circulation route, thus providing rhythmic spatial experiences. Besides, there’s a need to take into account if the street is transparent, if people feel comfortable to stay here, and if it is convenient for shops’ operation. To ensure that consumers can enjoy being in every corner of the street, the project perfectly blends landscapes with resting areas, functional areas for business operation, festival culture and language culture. This not only enriches the spatial rhythm and incorporates various operation functions, but also improves the experiences of both consumers and store owners, with the goal to let everyone immerse in the space when shopping, staying, photographing and eating here.
