The residential space shows its texture and function with precise plan in modern style.
The designer integrated the needs and divided the space perfectly. In the space division, the use of glass and glass block wall in study room allows the sunlight to transmit into interior; the light and shadow flow slowly in the space. Through the variation of light and shadow, the connection between the host and the outdoor environment is established. The semi-circular decoration in the master room not only makes the line more vivid but extends the vision of space. Shadow and colours altere with every step people take, while they enter the room. The junction of TV wall is decorated with a different material, titanium strips, to enhance the layers and the quality of it, which presents the designer’s ingenuity and brings the surprise to the host. Metal element is often used in the space to present the quality but not too fancy.
In terms of building materials, plywood and wooden beam are carbonized by high temperature process; thus, formaldehyde removal products are unnecessary, which reduces the resource consumption. As for building decorative materials, the TV wall is ornamented by recyclable stone like wall tiles which is made from PP foam to decrease the persecutions against environment. The cabinet is composed of plywood; wall is made up of glass blocks with environmentally friendly coating. Taking global warming into consideration, energy-efficient air conditioner is installed in order to lower carbon emissions. The designer’s philosophy of energy-saving and sustainability can be seen in every detail.
In contemporary trend, designers advocate to replace the non-recyclable raw materials with eco-friendly materials; also, they teach their clients that using eco-friendly materials won’t ruin the aesthetic and texture of design. As we purchase a good design, what we buy represents our recognition and responsibility to environment. That is, every time we consume, we choose what kind of world we want to live in.
The designer hopes this idea can become a trigger of goodness, and then raise people’s awareness of sustainability.
