MORNI Breakfast Interior Design (Hemei)

Continuing the concept of a neighborhood art gallery, Hemei breakfast store is the first branch which exhibits the concept of Morni’s second-generation stores. Unlike the first-generation stores where each store is customized, the second-generation stores have a specific sequence of ideas and the basic tone , “A new day in the comfort of oneself.”





Delivering the quality of an independent coffee shop within a limited budget is indeed a big challenge. Therefore, a minimalist look is created to reduce material waste and engineering complexity. In this case, we try to make budget and time constraints as materials of the design concept.





The Hemei branch is located near the school district, in which students are the major customers. Thus, we hope to bring blessings to young people who might confront self conflicts while they build self identities. We share the story of Apepi (also known as Apophis), a symbol of darkness in Egyptian mythology. Apepi exhibits a dark side of human nature; at the same time, he is actually a warm existence to protect one’s existence. We hope that young people embrace the darkness within the self and welcome a new morning with it.
