The Xiaoshao Canal to the southwest of this case is a world cultural heritage. The designers came across egrets while viewing the plot. In concert with the local culture, the design draws the characteristics of water waves and egrets and, in a three-dimensional way, forms an abstract summary of the natural waterfront elements. It uses white stones, light stainless steel, and water grain glass to convey the "pure, extreme, and light" beauty of the space, giving it a sense of classicality.
The front court will serve as the main entrance and home-coming hall in the future. As it is necessary to reduce the workload from the functional transformation, and harmonize the relationship among the architecture, landscape, and external urban interface, the building is designed with a large façade, and the arc landscape wall, modeling waterscape, and stacked water platform are adopted to enhance the sense of home-coming ritual, to integrate the landscape and architecture. The modeling waterscape enhances the temperament and recognition of the main scene space via the arc and slope processing, and the dynamic wave adds to the greeting atmosphere. To avoid the sense of pressure brought by the large height difference in the front court space, the waterscape is made of white marbles that echo with the landscape wall, so that the space presents a pure and light beauty.
The back court abandons superfluous colors in the space. Through abstract generalization of the natural waterfront elements, it presents a visual experience consistent with the environment. The water mirror reflects and amplifies the space. The square curved motion line makes the space light and transparent. The curves on both sides rise slowly to the center like ribbons. The round corner enclosure processing constantly highlights the space center. Spinning Wings, a tailor-made sculpture for the case, is placed in the middle of the water court to serve as the visual focus. Drawing on the elements of egret wings, this device adopts stainless steel that spirals upward, like an egret soaring from the water.
