Located in Quanshan District, the urban core of Xuzhou, the project responds to a city where historical depth and contemporary vitality coexist. Drawing from the district’s role as an economic, cultural, and educational hub, the space is conceived as a comprehensive experiential environment that integrates local culture, modern aesthetics, and human-centered functions, guided by the value proposition of creating meaningful and memorable encounters in daily life.
The design takes inspiration from Xuzhou’s regional culture, brand positioning, and the symbolic imagery of Qilixiang (Chinese Mock Orange), whose associations with tranquility, nostalgia, and cherished memories are reinterpreted through a process of cultural translation. A contemporary warm gray palette forms the spatial foundation, enriched by dark stone flooring and deep wood finishes. These materials are orchestrated to balance modern luxury with restraint, while seamlessly echoing the surrounding landscape to create a cohesive and immersive atmosphere.
Spatial scenes are composed around floral metaphors, weaving together social interaction, private dining, negotiation, and wellness scenarios through a “language of flowers” that conveys a gentle, blooming rhythm of life. In the central courtyard, floral installations and an enclosing chandelier evoke drifting petals and lingering fragrance, establishing a poetic dialogue between movement and stillness. This narrative unfolds continuously as visitors move through the space.
A weathered metal spiral staircase and a floral-patterned floor inlay mark the spatial prologue, while montage-inspired sequencing edits the rhythm of experience. Traditional cultural references are interwoven with refined Shanghai-style aesthetics, allowing transitions between past and future, locality and contemporaneity. Semi-transparent screens, artistic tiles, and carefully orchestrated light and shadow create layered spatial boundaries, balancing openness with privacy.
Cultural symbols associated with Xuzhou’s “Two Han Dynasties” heritage are abstracted into modern metal screens, while geological and natural imagery—such as Yunlong Lake and Pengcheng’s landscape—are translated into glass textures, light wells, and locally sourced stone. Through this superposition of time, space, and culture, the project aspires to become a contemporary cultural landmark that heals, connects, and resonates with its users.
