Nestled at the end of the sun-drenched Tropic of Cancer, nurtured by the relentless Kuroshio current, Taiwan emerges as an island of abundant lush forests, bountiful catches, and diverse ecosystems. In the past, aspiring the young chef embarked on passionate journeys, traversing distant lands and enriching his craft. Today, the masterful chef, skilled in his culinary arts, goes back to the island’s roots, harnessing the essence of local ingredients to create exquisite culinary masterpieces, allowing the seeds planted in the homeland to bloom in full fruition.
By intertwining the background and culinary expertise of the chef-owner, we skillfully conceived the theme "Between the Tides and the Island." Utilizing indigenous materials, we craft an exquisite dining environment that minimizes the carbon footprint of transportation while showcasing the unique allure of the island's ecological wonders. Guided by the philosophy of "Front of House as the Stage, Kitchen as the Backbone," we discreetly position the cooking area on the second floor, allowing the first-floor dining space to be served by a front-of-house team delivering impeccable service, providing guests with an unparalleled feast that delights their senses, tantalizes their taste buds, and leaves no room for critique.
Aligned with the brand philosophy of "Integrating Environment into Space," we fully embrace the owner’s culinary spirit and the local ecology of the island to shape a design concept inspired by the island's intertidal zone. Utilizing native materials such as wood veneer, bamboo, and oyster shells, we marvelously construct a glamorous dining space that captures the essence of a coastal environment. The interplay of layered wooden strips, linear lighting, aluminum bars, and undulating panels encircling the seating area mimics the rhythmic ebb and flow of ocean waves. Enhanced by a paint infused with oyster shell powder, the design artfully establishes a visual connection to the thriving oyster racks that dot the coastline. Moreover, wall embellishments featuring meticulously crafted paper sculptures inspired by ferns pay homage to Taiwan's vibrant fern kingdom, symbolizing the island's teeming marine vitality.
