The residential building is located adjacent to the road was called Imperial Envoy Avenue where the US Ambassador's residence and American Embassy was located.
The rhythm of t public facilities space design bases on the idea of water. As the metaphor of time and traffic creates the imagery of transparency and reflection of flow movement.
Wood grill ceiling with curved wavy three-dimensional shapes the water flow from the main entrance all the way to reception desk and continuing through the lounge and mailroom, the ceiling of underground parking area as well.
Ripples-looked stainless corrugated panels on the side wall and ceiling of the elevator hall from the second floor and above is another way to portray moving water.
Due to the limitation of the building width, the designer utilized big panels of fire-rated glass windows and doors to elongate the space and allow people at reception to look over the driveway for security purposes as well. Having reflective finished walls at the social area visually widened the space. White marble effect ceramic wall tiles at the reception, basement transition zone, and elevator hall also give some sense of extension.
Just like water is a recyclable resource, Wood and stainless steel are major materials to carry out the design concept which are also 100% recyclable. With environmental sustainability in mind, the designer chose light-colored walls to save energy consumption by requiring less interior lighting, and chose locally designed and produced tiles on all the floorings and walls to reduce the carbon footprint.
Home is not a hyped "commodity", nor is it simply a "house" in the form of an object. Home is a place where belonging and emotions converge, and it is also a place where life is reflected and precipitated. Only by returning to the essence of living space, the emotion and culture be interweave as water flow, people can feel the quality, aesthetics and happiness of life.
